Peterborough director of football Barry Fry is hopeful he can persuade George Boyd to sign a new contract at the club. Boyd, who spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, had previously revealed he wanted a permanent move to the City Ground. But following a series of impressive signings including Grant McCann and Dave Hibbert arriving at London Road, Fry believes the club has more chance of retaining the services of Boyd, Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith. Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "I've spoken to a lot of players like George, Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith and all of them have enthused about the players the manager has brought in. "If anyone was thinking about leaving, they might just have changed their mind because they realise we have a great chance of promotion and further success under this manager. "I have never seen a squad this happy at this stage of the summer in my time at the club."
