The 2-0 defeat to The Bluebirds on Tuesday night leaves Posh firmly rooted at the foot of the table and 12 points adrift of 21st placed Scunthorpe United.
"We never showed enough drive or quality to win the game," Gannon said after the match.
"The difference between the sides was the speed and movement of their front players.
"I am not expecting a dramatic turnaround at the club and it is going to be a long hard slog but at least I want the players to have the experience of being in this division."
