But Lewis, the England Under-21 goalkeeper, said: "I'm sure managing Posh will be seen as appetising.
"This is a club with a chairman who oozes enthusiasm and is determined to go forward. I don't think there will be a shortage of applicants for the job and I believe we have a good chance of being successful again next season.
"We have already shown what we can do at League One level and while people like George Boyd aren't around anymore, much of our success was built on the tremendous team spirit we had at the club.
"That is something we need to re-create in a young squad that has gained a lot of experience from the adversity of this season. The club as a whole has learned a lot on all levels from this season. The one thing we definitely need at the club is stability. The new manager will inherit a decent squad when he comes in but he definitely needs to be given time to put his own stamp on things."
