Gannon, who replaced Mark Cooper at the helm in February,
is only committed to the club until the end of the season but will not be rushed into any decisions and wants to discuss his options with his family first.
MacAnthony told the club's AGM: "Jim made a terrific presentation to us about the club. In fact if he doesn't extend his own stay, I will ask him to be involved in choosing our next manager.
"Obviously I want him to stay, but I will exert no pressure on him. He can tell us in his own good time and we will respect totally whatever he decides."
