He said: "There is no doubt I will take my time over our next manager. It's probably the single most important recruitment I will make in my time as chairman.
"I would like somebody in place by the end of the season so that the new man can watch our last couple of games closely and gauge an idea of what he will have to work with.
"I want to find a manager who is ambitious and driven and matches our targets for next season. Someone who plays attractive football which will entertain our crowds and give our players a lift.
"Whoever the new manager is, the objective next season will be to win League One and put a trophy in our cabinet which is something that hasn't happened for many years."
