Simpson, who had a loan spell at Southend this season, will link up with former Posh players Ben Wright and Sergio Torres at Crawley.
Simpson joined Peterborough from Histon following a successful trial just under a year ago.
Meanwhile, defender Carl Piergianni has joined Altrincham on work experience.
