Peterborough winger Chris Whelpdale is hoping to put his injury troubles behind him as he looks to get back to full fitness for the start of the npower League One campaign. The 23-year-old made 29 league appearances last term after missing the opening month of the season as he recovered from a hernia operation. He is now building up fitness from an ankle injury sustained back in March as he looks to nail down a regular spot in the first team. "I missed pre-season last year because of the hernia op and it set me back a few weeks," he told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. "This year I am determined to get a good one under my belt so I start the season raring to go. "I still have a slight problem with some bone bruising on my ankle, but I have been involved in most of the training. "I've done all of the running so my fitness is still good, so I just have to get used to the pain and in a few weeks I will be able to play through it without any discomfort."
