Blackpool got lost driving from their hotel to the Peterborough's ground, delaying the kick-off by five minutes, but when play did get underway top scorer Scott Taylor certainly didn't need telling the way to goal.
Taylor gave the Seasiders the lead in an explosive opening to the second half after Posh had squandered a great chance to go ahead when a glaring mistake by Mike Flynn let in Richard Logan.
Alas, the striker, on-loan from Boston, failed to take the ball round Brad Jones and the home side were caught napping when the Seasiders' Australian Under-23 goalkeeper punted a clearance up field.
It was seized by Taylor, who shrugged off a challenge by Simon Rea, before confidently hitting his 11th league goal of the campaign and a 17th in all competitions.
Blackpool boss Steve McMahon was delighted with the grit and determination shown by his side.
He said: "The strikers were excellent and in the second half we defended superbly with players throwing their bodies in the way of shots and stopping everything.
"This was our fifth win in six outings, with just one goal conceded which has to speak for itself." Posh boss Barry Fry's characteristic response to Taylor's goal was three immediate substitutions with Dave Farrell, Andy Clarke, and Adam Newton replacing Andy Lee, Logan and Calum Willock, winger Farrell coming closest to turning game in a frantic final 10 minutes.
Posh had penalty appeals waved aside as Clarke, Mark Arber and skipper Curtis Woodhouse all brought important saves from Jones.
But despite facing a succession of corners, Blackpool held out.
The defeat was a bitter disappointment to Fry who completed his purchase of the club earlier in the week and is giving fans a chance to buy 380,000 unsold £2 shares.
He commented: "We just never got out of the traps and let ourselves down badly. The first half was dreadful and apart from a 10-minute spell after the break we never looked like doing anything."
