Teenage discovery Leroy Lita helped Bristol City a surge up the League One table by slotting in a 72nd minute decider at Peterborough.
After a disastrous start to the campaign, City have now won twice in the space of five days and in addition to 19 years-old Lita's fifth goal of the season, City also owe a lot to goalkeeper Steve Phillips, who pulled off a magnificent penalty save on the stroke of half-time.
Leon Constantine was felled as he turned on a Simon Rea pass in the last minute of the first half and ex-Southend front man Constantine, who had earlier spot-kick appeals turned down, needed lengthy treatment before skipper Curtis Woodhouse finally took the kick.
But Woodhouse saw his well-placed effort superbly saved by the long serving Phillips, who guessed right and went full stretch to his left. Even then the danger was not over for City with the ball rolled away only as far as Peter Kennedy who blazed high over the bar.
Constantine had to be replaced by Richard Logan for the second period and Woodhouse was close to making amends for his penalty miss, firing narrowly wide after connecting with an accurate cross by Adam Newton.
Woodhouse then carved out an opening for new boy Chris Plummer, a £30,000 signing from Conference outfit Barnet, who headed wide before Clive Platt also failed to hit the target with a header.
Posh continued to squander chances and finally a misplaced pass by substitute David Farrell enabled City to strike decisively.
City player-boss Brian Tinnion intercepted before finding Aussie midfielder Luke Wilkshire, who sent Lita away to fire past Mark Tyler.
Lita could easily have added to his tally, but saw two efforts well saved by Tyler, the Posh keeper also denying Scott Murray twice.
