Reports suggest beleaguered Notts County boss Billy Dearden has quit the troubled second division strugglers in the wake of the disastarous 5-2 defeat at relegation rivals Peterborough.
Dearden has been in charge at Meadow Lane for two and a half years but refused to speak to the waiting media and drove away from the ground immediately after witnessing his side fight back once from two goals down only to succumb to three more second-half goals.
County were trailing as early as the tenth minute when one time £1million midfielder Curtis Woodhouse fired home a David Farrell pull back and it was even worse just before the half-hour when Woodhouse turned provider to create a smashing second goal for former Boston forward Richard Logan.
Both Logan and Calum Willock missed good chances to extend the lead further and Posh were punished either side of the interval by County youngster Paul Riley who struck the second and third goals of his fledgling career to give the travelling fans hope.
Riley was on hand to turn in the first of his double after keeper Mark Tyler had flapped at a Simon Baldry cross and two minutes into the second half poached his second after a Darren Caskey free-kick had crashed back off the crossbar.
But just as County looked as though they may get something from a massive game, Farrell led a Posh charge in his 300th appearance for the club.
He accepted a Willock pass to fire them back ahead on 56 minutes but it took a fine couple of saves from Tyler - also in a milestone 300th match for his only professional club - to preserve the advantage.
He produced a fine reaction stop to palm away a point-bank Tony Barras header and dived full length to deny Shaun Harrad after the young substitute had sped past lumbering centre back Sagi Burton.
But Barry Fry's hosts weathered the storm and Logan claimed his second and veteran Andy Clarke climbed off the bench to make it five in the 84th minute.
